British Airways reports increase in 2010 bookings for Caribbean

By Katherine in St. Kitts

British Airways reported today a steep rise in early reservations for Caribbean trips next year, compared to the same time last year. According to BA's CEO, Willie Walsh, "Leisure business from the UK has grown relatively strong and it's one of the reasons we've seen British Airways grow its presence in this market."

Earlier this year, British Airways announced they were adding a second weekly flight direct from London's Gatwick airport into St. Kitts' Robert L. Bradshaw International airport. The additional flight is scheduled to begin in late March 2010.

It appears that the Caribbean continues to be a great place for a holiday, and as St. Kitts continues to expand its tourism sector. It's easy to assume that more long-haul flights into St Kitts Bradshaw airport will be added over the coming years.

This is great news for the Federation and particluarly for Christophe Harbour, as the interest in the project from the UK market continues to be very strong.
